As things go, any positive albeit minor development in the vast field of transparency must be cherished, celebrated and praised. For this reason The Woluwe Diaries is proud to announce the launch of its Transparency Award.
This award shall be given to any move by the APEEE in the direction of increasing transparency in its activities and towards its members.
Alongside, The Woluwe Diaries are also happy to announce the attribution of the first such award.
For its yesterday’s move (2/12/2021) to reinstate the meeting of 4/11/2020 in the the list of APEEE Board meetings for 2020, The Woluwe Diaries are happy to announce that the APEEE is receiving its very first The Woluwe Diaries Transparency Award.
The APEEE is hereby awarded the Cork medal for a positive development in the area of transparency.
The Bronze, Silver and Gold medals were not considered because the transparency move would need to meet the following conditions:
- For Bronze: an explanation of why the minutes are not made public on the website should have been included in the recently added notice: Extraordinary Board Meeting – the minutes are kept at the secretariat of the APEEE.
- For Silver: as previously suggested in this blog, the minutes should have been kept public and a public apology to those most unjustly targeted at the extraordinary meeting of 4/11/2020 should have been offered alongside the meeting minutes.
- For Gold: those responsible for the events that unfolded at the 4/11/2020 meeting should have publicly assumed their responsibility and offered their unconditional resignation.
We are fully aware that this is a minor development that was only possible following the two Diaries posts on the matter of the disappearance of the minutes of the Extraordinary Board meeting of 4/11/2020 from the website of the APEEE (The curious case of the missing minutes and APEEE’s contribution to Quantum Mechanics). However, while we patiently wait for more ground breaking and important transparency moves by the APEEE, let’s all take a moment to celebrate this small development and victory.
